Julie's Sunny Baptism

Though my thoughts on religion are muddy,
my hubby is Catholic and I've readily agreed to raise
the girls in the church as well.
We celebrated Juliette's baptism earlier this month.
I created the event around her signature flower, the sunflower.
((My husband bought a special flower bouquet when each of
our daughters was born - so they each have a special one))

I embroidered a sunflower on the collar of Julie's baptism gown
and on her diaper cover.
I also embroidered a matching sunflower on a handkerchief my mother
bought me for the baptism - hopefully to be used again at her wedding many years from now.

For each of the women attending the ceremony, I made
fabric yellow sunflower hair pins.
I loved the idea of corsages, but I wanted something that would last as a keepsake.

^ That is my beautiful aunt - also Juliette's Godmother.
The sunflower looks so pretty in her hair.

I had planned on paying someone to make a cake for the event,
but about a week or so before I found this awesome blog.
Serisouly, how could I not make these cupcakes??

And we all know how I love my wreaths!
I bought the sunflower wreath at a local store and
dolled it up with some rhinestoned ribbon and
a painted & decoupaged monogram.

The favors were sweet little bags of jordan almonds
decked out in sunflower stickers and ribbon.

It was such a beautiful occasion.
So many members of our family were able to come out and celebrate.

It is fitting that the meaning of a sunflower is adoration.
How can anyone but adore my sweet Jules?

Random Wrong Number Ramblings..

I have an odd sense of humor.
It is possible it is the slightest bit of a mean, dry sense of humor.
I don't feel too guilty about it.
I think our humor is like our eye color, not to much we can do about it..
right?

Anywho this post is nothing more than a story
about a wrong number incident.
It caused me & my hubby ceaseless giggles.
I can not guarantee you will laugh.
But if nothing else, maybe you'll smirk at my truly odd humor.
**Story is completely true.. I could not make up half the crazy things that happen to me!
One day I'll blog about ALL the crazy flights I've had.. woah, baby!**

Soo.. I have a cell phone with a 602 - AZ area code.
I've had it for over 16 years.
I don't care where I live.
That's my cell.
I get wrong AZ calls a fair amount..probably monthly.
No biggie.

Well.. Earlier this week I had a message from the Maricopa Juvenile Detention Center.
They were looking for Miss Suzy.
No Miss Suzy here.
I didn't call back.
If I had the time I may have, but time is one thing I don't have.

Yesterday while we were at Isabelle's 3 year doc visit,
they called again.
I explain No Suzy.
They repeated the number they thought they were calling,
but they had mistakenly continued to hit "6" instead of "9".

Okay.. still not hilarious..
Stay with me people.

On the way home from said doctor appointment, I get another call
some very rude woman asks who the cuss I am
and hangs up when I politely remind her she called moi..
Crazy cuss lady calls back.
Same conversation.

Now I'm equally intrigued and annoyed.
I call the crazy cuss lady's number from caller ID
and get the Sandman Hotel.
Wow.. can you just picture this classy joint?
I wonder if Sheen has visited it..

Okay..back to story..
Hubby and I get a little laugh over it.

But can I let it go?
Uh,no..
I call the number that Miss Suzy is supposed to be at.
Remember, the Detention Center admitted to dialing a "6" instead of a "9"
so I know the right number.

On the other end of the line I get a pretty gruff man.
He firsts denies there is any Suzy and wants to know WHO am I..
I laughingly try to explain the situation and try to convince him
that I was just trying to reach this Miss Suzy so she would know
that both the Detention Center & the Sandman Hotel were looking for her.
I make my apologies and think the conversation is over..

Uh, no..

Gruff man informs me that he does in fact have a daughter named Suzy.
BUT NO WAY IS THAT HIS DAUGHTER THEY ARE LOOKING FOR!

Okay.

Does gruff man really think I was able to pull some random number
out of my hat and correctly guess that there would be a daughter named Suzy?

Right okay..you aren't laughing.
This was hysterical yesterday..

Happy Beer Day!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!
Sorry this is sooo late in the day.
We had some major internet issues - I hope Digis never needs a referral from me..

As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to make it for my hubby.
I don't often think of crafty goodness that he would want to wear,
the man doesn't appreciate knit scarves or sweaters but we love him anyways ;o)

Her tutorial was super easy!
I actually used my Pazzle to cut clear shelf liner.
I like using my Exacto, but I need to be quick and accurate.

I also used a fabric paint pen rather than just paint.
Can't say I'm thrilled with paint pens in general.
It always poops out on me during the first project.
One day I'll learn, one day..

Anywho, my manly beer lovin' hubby looks awesome in his shirt.
He's off at the bar whooping it up, but at least he won't get pinched!

Addicted!

I'm SO excited about my latest project,
I can't even wait for the beautiful morning natural light..
so you're stuck with poopy pictures.

Is this not the sweetest thing ever?
Once I tried the Easter subway art,
it came to me that it would be adorable to have one customized for your family.

This is so special to me.
I adhered it on our fireplace wall where
we have 2 very large framed wedding pictures.
Our little homage to how our family began..

Facebook much?

Your blog needs a Facebook page.
Yes, it does.

I fought it for a long time.
It was only a few weeks ago that I created mine.
I didn't know why I should have one, I have my blog.

Here is why

1. I love your blog, but I love hundreds of blogs.
Quite frankly if you don't have a blog right now it is as bad as if you
didn't have a website about decade ago.
I have hundreds of blogs that I love.
Quilting, crafting, cooking, photography, family, and friends.
With 2 small kids, I don't have time to check each and everyone.
I just don't.

You want to know which ones I read?
I read the ones that have a Facebook page and they have posted that they have a new post.
I know it sounds redundant,
but on Facebook I can see what they blogged about and am more likely to visit.
I don't have to scroll through my reader to see if you blogged or not.
You saved me time, you enticed me with your Facebook blurb,
I'm a more loyal blog follower.

2. I love your link party and/or challenge but it's not on my calender.
I have 2 challenges I take the time to make a note about on my calender.
My own challenge and Iron Craft.
Why?
Because they are weekly and they fall on the same date.
I want to do your link party.
I want to enter your challenge.
Remind me when they are!
If you Facebook about it, leave last minutes notes about it,
advertise it.. I will do it!!

3. Which blog are you again??
As I mentioned, in my opinion you need a blog.
However they can start to look all the same.
Many people post the same links these days.
I want to get to know you.
I want to more than just the fabulous DIY tutorial you just found.
With a Facebook page I can get to know you better.
You don't have to post pictures of your kids if you don't want to.
You don't have to post when you're going on vacation.
Just let me get to know what makes you, you.
I am more likely to visit your blog.

Okay..so go make your Facebook page!
