Hi Megann! Honestly with this quilt, I just jumped in. I worked it like a super duper large log cabin.. and as you mentioned, I made 45 degree cuts on the ends.
It was a bit of a monster.. though it is still one of my favorites.
You may have inspired me to try it again as a tutorial ;o)

Thanks! Yup, I just made a 45 degree slash on opposite corners and then would resew.
Not too hard..just a bear to quilt the large spirals on my machine..would love a long arm!!
