Mother's Day Wreath - Tattoo Art Inspired

tattoo art - mother's day wreath - all things belle

I can't show you any of my current Mother's Day projects - my Mum is my number one fan and maybe only reader, lol.

But this tattoo inspired wreath is one of my favorite projects. I made it 4 years ago, but this picture was just taken today. It looks as fun as ever!

Do you have a special wreath or door art for Mother's Day?
And call your mother! She loves you and is worried about you. No really, call her..

Mother's Day Bonanza!

I am incredibly lucky that I was able to celebrate Mother's Day with my parents & family. My mother and I have had such fun all week and we are now counting the days till we leave for Quilt Market. It seemed extravagant to have presents in addition to our fun activities, but we love to make presents for each other.

This year I treated my mother to a gardening theme gift...

I found this gardening tote pattern on Sew, Mama, Sew. I *loved* this pattern! It's well written and so much fun. It's perfect for trying a number of fabrics and some room to try a new freemotion quilting pattern.
I think this tote would be awesome for a couple of uses - it has a very sturdy & large inner compartment as well as 3 outside pockets.

Kiddo painted a flower pot and gifted some pansy flower seeds. We also put together a custom notebook from Tiny Prints. The journal was a great deal and I am sure I will be buying some more in the future!

My parents & husband gave me lots of tea related gifts though they didn't collaborate on it. I can't wait to try  out my brand new beautiful teapot from my husband & daughters! My mother bought us twin teacups sets - one for each of us. So even though we are separated states away, we can share a cuppa tea together. Aww..

And my favorite gift from my mother of course is one made by her hands..

Love it.. I hung it on my wall about 5 seconds after I opened it...

I hope that you had a wonderful Mother's Day! I hope those that you have loved and cared for gave you an extra bit of sweetness..

Tattoo Iconic Mother Wreath

I posted about this wreath last year. I still love this wreath and will be placing it on our door later today. I'm still without a tattoo even though I have created a design I would love to have on my upper back..and I have plans for it later this year, but that's for another post.

Even if you aren't a fan of body art, I still think this a fun wreath for Mother's Day!

Mother's Day Gift

I've been wanting to reveal my Mother's Day gift that I made. I love it so much and was so happy to see my Mum loved it too!

Of course, back to my love of free motion art..

When I think of my Mom, I think of classic colors - red, black, and white.
Timeless and classy..
I can't wait to see this in my Mum's home!
I do have to admit that is not my lovely idea.. it was Jenny Doh's. You must go see her original piece. I loved it the second I saw it and knew immediately that I wanted to make my own version for my Mum.

It is funny that I when I got really into free motion art that I thought I was being original, come to find out..not so much =) That ever happen to you? Anyways once I learned that I was not exactly an innovator, I started researching more artists that were interested in this freestyle sewing. That is how I found Jenny Doh. She is zomg amazing. The more I learn about her and see her art pieces, the more I wish I could convince her that she really should move to Utah and be my very best friend. Until then, reading her blog will have to do..

Never too Late to Celebrate

Did you wonder where my Mother's Day post was? Well we celebrated today, Happy Mother's Day!! My hubby always works Sundays so there are lots of time that we celebrate holidays on a different date than the rest of the world. I'm so lucky that my parents were able to be out here and celebrate with us. My mother and I are going to the Quilt Market this week as a part of our festivities. I can't wait!

My mother is truly my craft/art/poetry pioneer. She blazed many trails for me, and now I'm so happy we share many creative journeys together. I know that it special that we share so many interests. I can't wait till my girls are really able to join in on the fun with us.

Love you Mom!!
This is a scrapbook page she made that I just adore..

Friday Freebie - Mom Banner

Here is a sweet little banner you can print out and post around the house. I originally designed it to be a coloring page for little ones - so feel free to let the kiddos color in the letters & heart!

I added tabs to the top so you can fold them over and tape down to the ribbon.
Here is mine! I strung it on some fun Martha Stewart bakers twine. This is our gate to our bottom floor where my parent's guest room is - I thought it would be a fun way to welcome my mom.

Do you want a different color?
Leave me a comment and I'll post some color options this evening!

If you like my downloads, could you *follow* me?
That way I know ya'll like them
and you'll know when I post the next one!

WoW 18 - Details for 19

For this WoW I decided to make my gift for Juliette's Godmother, who is also my aunt. I know my aunt was very touched to have this extra special role in our lives. I hope that this little plaque is a daily reminder of how much we love & appreciate her.

((If you would like the cutting file for this quote, just let me know and I'll post it))

****

After several weeks of blogging like crazy and having no time to pursue my artistic endeavors, I've decided to make WoW a month long challenge. On a weekly basis it requires a ton of work on my end. But I love the idea of it, I appreciate it so much when you participate, and I hope in time it will grow.

For WoW #19, I am tasking you to make something masculine. I find it sooo tough to think of items to make the men in life ( though lately I have had a ton of ideas..) You will have until midnight on June 4th (MTN time) to enter this challenge. Just in time for Father's Day!! Please use the linky tool below to enter..

Tattoo Art Inspired Wreath

I love tattoo art. I don't have a single tattoo on my body, but I'm always fascinated by it. I know that for a lot of people it's considered rebellious..even low class. I think it is art personified. To think that a piece of artwork meant so much that someone wanted it etched in their skin - what an amazing idea. Maybe one day there will be an image that means enough to me that I would want it on my body forever.. I haven't found it yet.

One of my all time favorite tattoo images is the iconic "Mother" heart. And now I have it hanging on my door for Mother's Day..
Aw.. isn't it fabulous?? If ya'll want an in depth tutorial, just holler...

WoW 17 - Details for #18

For this week's WoW, I challenged you to do something better for the Earth. Any type of recycling, upcycling, planting a tree, etc.. As artists we have the skills to look beyond an item's face value and find something more. We have the skills to create items that many people have to purchase.

If you have toddlers, you probably own stock in Ziplocs. You need them for everything! I get pretty tired of buying them every week and we finally bought a HUGE box of the sandwich size ones at Costco. Ugh - what a waste of money and detriment to the environment!

I had seen tons of the fabric reusable bags on Etsy for awhile now, and thought that would be a great start to end our excess of plastic. Here is the pattern I found online and used for this project. Really great pattern and took me minutes to whip up. Here is my Nemo inspired reusable snack bag- perfect size to hold goldfish crackers!

Isn't it adorable? Seriously took me less than 30 minutes to make this. I'm going to sit down this summer and plow through a ton. They are fabulous for playdates and to pack in Isabelle's lunch box.

And I had another thought. Just about every toy you buy for toddlers these days comes with a gazillion parts and no bag to store them it. So we buy a TON of gallon sized plastic bags too. I'm going to make these bags a lot larger and I can toss her toys in the them. One for cars, one for doll clothes, etc,..

What did you make for WoW?
Kathleen make these awesome raised flower planters out of unused drain tiles. This is such a creative idea! Never would anyone imagine that those were a recycled craft. I love that these are also raised beds - I hear that helps a lot with gardening. Love them Kathleen!

Freebie Friday - Mother's Day Printable

I wonder if this phrase ever worked for a mother...

For Freebie Friday, I hope you enjoy this adorable printable. I'm planning on printing & framing mine, and displaying it on my kitchen hutch.

Now if only I could get my toddler to understand what it means...
