Am I A Non-Mormon Mormon?

I never would have asked myself this question 5 years ago.
My husband and I lived in Arizona.
We went out drinking and dancing every night we could.
Never in my life did I consider living in the state of Utah.
It's the LDS state, didn't you know?
But I really, really, really didn't like Arizona.
Don't get me started on the heat and politics.
I'm a California born and
raised for the first 16 years of my life liberal - there I said it.

While I had my foot on my husband's back, begging to leave the red state,
I visited Utah for scrapbook convention
(Yes I know..scrapbooking and Utah, they go together)
And I fell in love.
I loved the mountains, the non cactus scenery, and
in general the attitude of it.

Fast forward 5 years,
we have been living in Salt Lake County for about 3 years.
I blog.
I have 2 kids under the age of 3.
I sew..daily.
I do every imaginable craft.
I stay at home while managing a crafty business.
I don't show cleavage (on most days).
I have bangs.
I am in general a very happy person,
with a very happy family.
After a couple years of living here,
I now have LDS friends.

Now all of this wouldn't make me think I fit the "Mormon" woman cliche,
but do I?
I didn't get a chance to read all of it
(remember I said I have 2 kids under the age of 3?)
But I found it very interesting.
Somehow the "Mormon Wife/Mother"
has come to equate June Cleaver..

And while I am most definitely not Mormon,
don't ask what I am because, well that will be a very loooong post.
I wonder if my readers think I am.
Or maybe it's just Utah? Or being a mom in Utah?
I don't know..
I think any stereotype is dangerous,
but it was an interesting article...

I'm off to feed my two kiddos,
get some sewing in,
and email my loving husband..

I thought I was the only one! LOL I'm a stay at home mom, 30, 3 kids, got married at 19, born and raised in southern Utah, and I'm NOT Mormon. I don't how many people think I am though. I don't know if it's adaptation so I can not stick out like a sore thumb or just that I happen to fit the stereotype. I like to think it's the later. My husband is an ex-Mormon and I have no intention of joining the church anytime soon. Sorry, I started rambling! Great link to a great article! Will be following you now too! :) Have a great day from one non-Mormon in Utah to another! :)

Hi Melissa! Thanks for joining my blog. Yeah, Utah is a funny place. My mom loves to tease me that I'd be a fabulous Mormon wife.
